Testicular Atrophy Symptom Guide for Pets | Observation Points and When to Seek Care
Understand possible causes of Testicular Atrophy and home observation points
Obvious shrinking of a testicle may indicate changes in testicular tissue or endocrine function. Record size, palpation findings, and trends.
What this symptom means clinically
Testicular atrophy is reduced testicular volume and cell number, often related to degeneration of seminiferous epithelium, interstitial change, or inadequate hormone support. It appears as smaller testicles and altered elasticity or firmness on palpation.
🐱 In cats
Because cats are small, testicular-size changes may be difficult to see and often require palpation and comparison between sides.
🐶 In dogs
In dogs, testicular atrophy may relate to age or endocrine change; breed and individual baselines vary, so symmetry and palpation differences matter.
