What this symptom means clinically
Pupil Dilation reflects an imbalance between iris dilator and constrictor muscles or altered central nervous regulation, causing the pupil to become larger than usual. Mechanisms may include relatively increased sympathetic activity, reduced parasympathetic function, or local eye tissue effects that alter iris muscle response. One-sided or both-sided dilation helps localize whether the issue may be ocular or more central.
